Heart screenings
At Edward-Elmhurst Heart Hospital, we believe the best care for your heart isn’t in the hospital — it’s where you live, work and play. That’s why we’re committed to proactive cardiac care in our community.
We offer personalized, comprehensive heart scans and online heart health risk assessments to help you better understand your heart disease risk, and prevent or uncover hidden issues.
Schedule a heart scan
A heart scan, a CT scan of the heart, is the safest and most accurate screening tool for detecting the early build-up of calcium in the coronary arteries, the most common cause of heart disease. This simple, painless and potentially lifesaving test takes just 15 minutes.
What Makes Us Different? Two Heart Scan Options
$75 Heart CT Scan Package
It’s comprehensive. Our $75 Heart Scan Package* comes with other important tests as well — all in one appointment — including cholesterol, glucose and BMI screenings and a blood pressure check.
It’s personalized. After your screening, a cardiac nurse will provide a personal, one-on-one consultation to review your risk factors, discuss your preliminary results and answer your questions.
It’s convenient. With several locations close to home or work.
Individual $49 Heart Scans – New!
Our $49 Heart CT Scan-only option* does not include the personalized cardiac nurse consultation or the additional screenings. Your results will be sent to your primary care provider(PCP), who will follow up with you afterward and discuss next steps, if appropriate. You must have a PCP to qualify. The Heart Scan-only option is now available at three convenient locations.
A board-certified cardiologist and board-certified radiologist will interpret your heart scan results no matter which type you choose.
Heart scan locations and directions
A final copy of the results will be mailed to your home within 7-10 business days. A copy will also be filed in MyChart for you to view, and will be available to your primary care physician.
**For the $49 Heart Scan-only option in Bolingbrook, Lombard and Plainfield, there are no additional screenings or nurse consults provided. The results will be sent to your primary care physician. If you do not have a primary care physician, one will be assigned to you.

*This test is self-pay only and payment is due at time of service.
Who should have a heart scan?
Make an appointment for a heart scan if you are male over age 40 or a female over age 45, and have one or more of these risk factors:
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Smoking
- Obesity
- Diabetes
- Family history of heart disease
If you are experiencing symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath, the heart scan isn’t for you. Contact your physician or call 911 if you think you are experiencing a heart attack. If you have had a previous cardiac event, angioplasty or open heart surgery, you will not benefit from this screening.
Learn your risk
Do you have five minutes to assess your heart health? Take our free, confidential online heart health assessment to learn your risk of heart disease.
Complete and submit the questionnaire (it takes just a few minutes) and you’ll receive a report describing your risk and recommendations for next steps. If there is reason for concern, a member of our team will contact you to determine if further testing is needed.
Take the HeartAware assessment
If you are experiencing symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath, have had a previous cardiac event or heart surgery, HeartAware isn’t for you. Call 911 if you think you’re experiencing a heart attack.
