NorthShore University HealthSystem, listed among the Top 15 Major Teaching Hospitals, has received the 100 Top Hospital® honor for a record 23rd time, more than any other hospital or health system in the United States during the award’s 29-year history.
•
For the fourth year in a row, Edward-Elmhurst Health was named one of the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems in the Medium Health Systems category.
•
For the third straight year, Elmhurst Hospital was named among the 100 Top Hospitals® in the U.S. as a Large Community Hospital. The hospital also received a 100 Top Hospitals® Everest Award in recognition of setting national benchmarks for the fastest rate of improvement and highest current year performance on the study’s balanced scorecard.
“These achievements reflect the extraordinary commitment, dedication and resilience of our amazing team of physicians, nurses and entire staff who have demonstrated courage and conviction during challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic the past few years,” said J.P. Gallagher, President and Chief Executive Officer of NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health. “Congratulations to our entire team for providing our patients and communities with the highest quality care, compassion and safety.”
To select this year’s 100 Top Hospitals®, Merative rigorously evaluated 2,650 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals in the U.S., using multiple public data sources. The list was established to help identify best practices that may help other healthcare organizations achieve consistent, balanced and sustainable high performance. Separately, for the 15 Top Health Systems, Edward-Elmhurst Health was among 349 health systems and more than 3,200 hospitals evaluated.
This year’s rankings also incorporated an equally-weighted community health measure. As part of the survey, hospitals were credited for meeting best practice standards related to community health and preventative care, community partnerships and serving as anchor institutions to support local economic and social progress.
