The Edward Foundation raised $460,000 at its 29th annual Charity Golf Tournament on July 18 at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont. More than 300 golfers participated in the event and donated funds through sponsorships, raffles, games and a silent auction.
The Foundation, the charitable fundraising organization of Edward Hospital, was established in 1990 and has raised more than $56.7 million in its mission to support Edward Hospital’s community healthcare initiatives.
The winning team on Cog Hill’s Dubsdread course was the Residential Home Health foursome of Andrew Baasen, Lake Bluff; Brian Buffo, Batavia; Justin Kochen, Batavia and Tom Tennett, Lake Bluff.
The winning team on Cog Hill’s Courses 1 and 3 was the Molex foursome of Brad Bielema, Naperville; Tyson Masar, Naperville; Mike Sewart, Oswego and Scott Whicker, Aurora.
Mike Carls of Lemont was the winner of the Helicopter Ball Drop, in which entrants paid for a chance to have a numbered golf ball dropped from a helicopter and land closest to the flag.
The Foundation’s next major event and largest fundraiser of the year, The Big Gig: Magnifique, will be held Sept. 24 at The Westin Hotel, 70 Yorktown Center in Lombard. A portion of funds from The Big Gig will support strategic upgrades and enhance services, including cancer care, cardiac care and behavioral health.
