The Edward Foundation raised more than $460,000 at its 30th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on July 17 at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont. More than 300 golfers donated funds through sponsorships, donations, raffles and games. Dionne Miller, weekend sports anchor and reporter, ABC7 Eyewitness News, was the event’s celebrity guest.
The Foundation, the charitable fundraising organization of Edward Hospital, was established in 1990 and has raised more than $57 million in its mission to support Edward Hospital’s community healthcare initiatives.
The winning team on Cog Hill’s Dubsdread course included Ahmed Hassan, MD, Naperville; Alexander Jones, MD, River Forest; Kamran Khan, MD, Chicago and Will Williams, Naperville.
The winning team on Cog Hill’s courses 1 and 3 included Joseph Donzelli, MD, Glen Ellyn; Joseph Donzelli IV, Chicago; Nicholas Love, DO, Naperville and Douglas Tran, MD, Naperville.
Charlie Anderson of Wheeling was the winner of the Helicopter Ball Drop, in which entrants paid for a chance to have a numbered golf ball dropped from a helicopter and land closest to the flag.
The Foundation’s next major event and largest fundraiser of the year, The Big Gig: Jazzin’ It Up!, will be held Sept. 23 at The Matrix Club, 808 Illinois Rte. 59 in Naperville. The event will include silent and live auctions, cocktails, dinner and dueling pianos. A portion of funds raised will support strategic upgrades across multiple specialties, including cancer care, cardiac care and behavioral health.
