Philosophy Of Care
Leah grew up in Florida and received her Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in Spanish language from the University of South Florida. After studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina she decided to pursue her Masters degree in counseling which she received from Lewis University here in Illinois. Leah has worked in inpatient, PHP and IOP settings working with adolescents and adults with mental health and substance use disorders. Leah has also enjoyed working with traditional outpatient therapy and has been trained in using EMDR. Leah enjoys traveling, reading, painting, dance and spending time with her family. Leah believes that coming to therapy is a brave decision and values developing rapport with patients by creating a safe therapeutic environment. Leah uses primarily cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral and motivational interviewing strategies to work through a variety of issues. Leah works with individuals 12 years of age and older. Leah is passionate about working with adolescents and young adults on their journey of discovering their identity in addition to family and school stressors. Leah also believes in treating the individual as a whole person including but not limited to their mental health concerns in combination with substance use, trauma and adjustment to different stages of life.
