Philosophy Of Care

My goal is to treat the person, not just the cancer. Soon after receiving my degree as an electrical engineer, I decided a career helping people was better suited to me. Medical school enabled me to combine my interest in science with a mission to care for people. While the doctor-patient relationship is important in all fields of medicine, I believe it is particularly important in hematology/oncology. I truly care for my patients – so much so that I rejoice with them when the news is good and share their tears when a result is not what we expected.

Before joining Edward-Elmhurst Health, I spent many years in the university setting. That experience has helped me to utilize a combination of evidence-based findings along with a multidisciplinary approach to guide my patient’s treatment, ensuring they have access to the latest treatment options available. Taking the time to really explain and educate patients and their families about the disease and the detailed treatment plan is very important to me. Time is something I have here which makes caring for patients so wonderful – we have time to talk and, more importantly, I have time to really listen to you.
