During your stay
Nobody wants to be in the hospital. But if you have to be, you’re in good hands at Edward Hospital.
You’ve trusted us with your care. In return, you’ll receive expert medical care and personalized attention in a patient-centered environment. Your physicians, nurses and entire clinical team are committed to providing you with the utmost care and attention during your hospital stay.
We want you to feel at home when you’re at Edward-Elmhurst Health, so we continually strive to create a relaxing, healing environment in our hospitals. By tapping into the power of art, we’ll help you and your loved ones feel relaxed and comfortable during your hospital stay. Many hallways throughout the hospital are used as rotating art galleries, and showcase carefully-picked artwork and photography created by local artists.
Private inpatient rooms
Your private room at Edward Hospital is designed for your safety and comfort, and to serve as an inviting space for your loved ones to visit.
Each private patient room includes visitor space, a restroom with walk-in shower and a television. Rooms are Wi-Fi capable so you can access the Internet with your personal devices. A loved one is welcome to stay overnight on a sleeper sofa or recliner in your room. Additionally, there are family lounges on each floor.
Discharge planning
Your healthcare team at Edward will work with you to create your discharge plan, which will be reviewed daily and updated depending on your health needs.
Your discharge plan outlines next steps for follow-up care, such as necessary medical equipment and where to get it, a medication list, and a schedule of future appointments. Depending on your individual needs, your discharge plan may also include information about home care services and palliative care services.

Transitional Care Clinic
The time after leaving the hospital can be stressful and overwhelming. Patients with complicated medical conditions and/or socio-economic barriers who could benefit from additional support after leaving the hospital may be recommended for the Transitional Care Clinic. The program serves as a bridge after leaving the hospital to support you in your recovery until you follow up with your primary care physician.
