Adolescent Mental Health Programs

Behavioral health conditions affect not only adults but also at least one in five children and adolescents. Untreated, these disorders can result in school problems, family conflicts, substance abuse, and even thoughts of death. Early intervention is crucial for the recovery process.

Common conditions treated

  • Addiction: uncontrolled use of alcohol, illegal drugs or prescribed drugs for mood-altering purposes.
  • Anxiety: involves persistent and excessive worry about multiple different aspects of life that interferes with daily activities.
  • Depression: persistent feelings of sadness , hopelessness, and lose interest in activities they once enjoyed lasting more than 2 weeks.
  • Eating disorder: psychological problems associated with unhealthy eating habits caused by dislike towards food, or concern about gaining body weight or losing body shape.
  • Trauma/Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): condition that develops following a traumatic event characterized by intrusive thoughts about the incident, recurrent distress/anxiety, flashback and avoidance of similar situations.

Specialty programs

  • Anxiety Programa general mental health program to treat any anxiety disorders. 
  • Addictions/Dual diagnosis Program: variety of services at each stage of the addiction and recovery process, including dual diagnosis and group therapy just for adolescents.
  • Autism and Mental Health (Aspirations) Program: designed to help adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) more effectively manage their anxiety and/or depression.
  • Depression Program: a general mental health program to treat issues related to depression. 
  • Eating Disorders Program: a highly individualized program that focuses on the impact of mood and eating behavior, improving dietary patterns and body image, and reducing the use of inappropriate eating and compensatory behaviors. 
  • Emerging Adult Program: a program for young adults who are struggling with creating direction in life.
  • PTSD Program: a program that assist in processing symptoms following a traumatic event or after living with recurring trauma.
  • School Refusal Program: designed to help participants manage symptoms related to school anxiety.

Treatment approach and techniques

Group therapy is provided through Endeavor Health/Linden Oaks Behavioral Health's Intensive Outpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and Inpatient programs. This includes both educational groups, skills groups, and individual meetings with a licensed clinical therapist. Patients will learn a variety of skillsets with a focus on healthy lifestyles promoted by Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure Therapy.

  • School at Linden Oaks: adolescent patients in our inpatient and partial hospitalization program (PHP) levels of care attend the School at Linden Oaks for one or two hours per day. The school is staffed by state-certified teachers with endorsements in special education, English, social studies, science and mathematics. Linden Oaks also has school liaisons who help coordinate a successful return to school for our adolescent patients by meeting and collaborating with the school and patient on the student’s needs and accommodations.

Treatment hours (dependent on your level of care)

  • Inpatient: 24/7 around the clock care 
  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): 6 hours a day, 5 days a week
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): 3 hours a day, 5 days a week
  • Counseling/Medication management: By appointment (daytime, nighttime and weekend hours)
